  • Pros and cons of tourism

Tourism as a worldwide phenomenon has positive and negative aspects. One of the positive ones is that tourists get to know the inhabitants and culture of their holiday-destination. The result of cultural-interested holidaymakers is that the sights of their interest get well attended. For this reason the monuments profits, because they are restored (of the entrance-money from the visitors).

The negative impacts of numerous travellers are that they dump their waste at the sights and take small items with them. Consequently, the historic buildings get destroyed and the restoration costs plenty of money, much more then the revenue from the entrance.

A further point is the economical factor of tourism, whole regions benefits of it. In Tyrol for example infrastructure of little villages was built up as well as touristic buildings and facilities for tourism, whereof also the population profits. Whereas at the other hand side the landscape is destroyed of the new constructions for holidaymakers. In addition to that problem often too many people invade a place and disturb the social life of a city.

All in all it might be said that tourism is increasing and we have to adapt our travelling habits and tourism itself in that way that we can have fun on holiday and in spite of that protecting the environment of to much influence by tourism.
